In 2005, while working for as a television talent booker, Sadia Brangan became obsessed with threading and tried out nearly every salon in the city. Unsatisfied with the unsanitary conditions of the spots, Brangan decided to leave her job and start her own seriously clean and affordable threading joint in Murray Hill. Since then, Brangan has opened two more Thread Salons, including her most recent locale, in the East Village. The mod space is decorated with the brand’s signature red-and-white walls, and the pristine hair-removal services are—as always—offered at rock-bottom prices. Lounge in one of the six leather chairs while an aesthetician efficiently grooms your eyebrows in less than ten minutes and finishes the job with a cool aloe gel massage ($8). Other treatments include full-body waxing ($115) and henna tattoos ($10–$20).
