Legend has it the original owner of this Greenwich Village café introduced Americans to the cappuccino in 1927. It's since traded in the coal-fueled espresso machine for a sleeker Caffe Sacco model, but you can still admire the old custom-chrome-and-bronze contraption on the bar. Tuck into a tiramisu and espresso under Italian Renaissance paintings (including a 16th-century piece from the School of Caravaggio).
