Your Halloween costume needs a footwear adjustment.
Wollman Rink opens for ice skating today, October 28, bringing another season of skyline views and ambitious date nights to Central Park. And for its first weekend back, the rink is offering something far better than a fun-size candy bar: free skating.

On Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, admission and skate rentals will be free all day for everyone. The two dates are designated Community Days, so you can take your annual turn pretending you remember how to stop. (Reserve your free tickets and rentals through Wollman Rink’s website.) Saturday’s festivities include Halloween skating in costume, along with free hot chocolate and candy.

The seasonal entertainment starts before the weekend, too: Wollman’s outdoor movie series returns to the Overlook tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, with a free screening of Minions & Monsters from 7–10 pm on a big inflatable screen. Bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets and pillows for the family-friendly screenings, which will include free popcorn and hot chocolate while supplies last. The Nightmare Before Christmas is scheduled for December 3, with more programming to be announced.
Beyond opening weekend, the season promises themed skate nights, family-friendly pop-ups, new ticket packages and the return of Igloo Village. Lessons and season passes are available, too, should those tentative laps turn into a habit.
The rink is scheduled to remain open daily through March 16, 2027, leaving plenty of time to graduate from gripping the rink’s edge to something resembling a glide. (Alysa Liu, we ain't.) Find tickets, passes and upcoming event announcements on the rink’s website, and enter Central Park at 59th Street and Sixth Avenue for your ice time.
