New York hotels usually prefer that guests refrain from smashing electronics and glassware. One Times Square property is making an exception—with protective equipment and a designated off-site room, of course.

Paramount Times Square–A Generator Hotel has introduced a new Detox & Destroy NYC Stay Package that pairs an overnight stay with 25 minutes of “rage therapy” at The Ragery, a Lower East Side venue where visitors can safely take their frustrations out on breakable objects. After the destruction, guests can return to the hotel for a considerably calmer activity: cocktails at its Lobby Bar.

The package includes admission for two people to The Ragery, where participants can smash three electronic items and 30 pieces of glassware using baseball bats, golf clubs, hammers and other implements. (Guests can also document the aftermath at a 360-degree selfie station.)

Safety equipment—including coveralls, helmets with face shields, earmuffs and protective gloves—is provided. Participants must wear comfortable clothing and hard-soled shoes and the venue recommends leaving skirts and dresses at home since everyone will need to pull a protective suit over their clothes.

After pulverizing their allotted appliances, guests can head back uptown to Paramount Times Square for two custom CBD cocktails at the Lobby Bar. The hotel sums up the itinerary succinctly: “Rage first. Relax later.”

The experience draws on growing interest in unconventional wellness practices that trade quiet meditation for a more physical form of emotional release. Whether smashing a toaster actually produces lasting inner peace is up for debate, but it certainly sounds more satisfying than another sound bath.

The Detox & Destroy package is available with stays through October 15, 2026, and must be booked by October 12. Reservations need to be made at least three days in advance and are available for Deluxe rooms and higher categories, excluding the Couture Suite. Bookings are final, nonrefundable and subject to availability and blackout dates.

All participants must be at least 21 and bring government-issued identification. Guests should also arrive at The Ragery 15 minutes before their scheduled session. After that, they are free to imagine that every doomed coffee maker is a delayed train or a passive-aggressive work email.
