[title]
Some people watch a psychological thriller for the plot. Others spend the entire time wondering about the house of the deeply suspicious rich people. If you fall into the latter group, it's time to grab your yoga mat.
Beckoning Path, the luxe property that plays the Crawford family home in the Anne Hathaway-led film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity, is actually a private wellness retreat in Armonk, New York. And on Saturday, October 24, you can enter that real-life filming location for yourself as Present Wisdom is hosting a day of yoga, forest bathing, Qigong and sound healing there.
According to Architectural Digest, the house serves as the secluded Vermont estate where writer Lowen Ashleigh (played by Dakota Johnson) arrives for a ghostwriting assignment involving author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) and her husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett). Its real address puts the property in Westchester County, making this particular literary pilgrimage considerably easier for New Yorkers.
Designed by Jens Quistgaard (chief designer of Scandinavian homeware brand Dansk) for the company’s founders, Martha and Ted Nierenberg, the 1960s house features a dramatic, pointed copper roof, towering timber frames and sweeping glass walls. It also sits on 27 lakefront acres.

The property and grounds formed the backbone of the movie’s locations, although some interiors, including bedrooms, hallways and Verity’s office, were created on a Queens soundstage. (Temper any expectations of conducting a room-by-room cinematic investigation, unfortunately.)
October’s Inner Renewal Fall Yoga & Wellness One Day Retreat runs from 9am to 3pm, with arrival and welcome scheduled for 8:45 m. Present Wisdom co-founder Alka Kaminer will lead gentle yoga and breathwork, followed by forest bathing and Qigong with instructor Brian. Later, Meg Pressman will lead sound healing alongside Kaminer’s guided meditation. For lunch, Ann Tedesco will prepare a plant-based autumn meal of warming soup and garden salad. There’s also time built in for journaling, connecting with other participants or walking the labyrinth.
The retreat is limited to 18 participants. Early registration costs $250 with code RETREAT26 through October 10; the regular price is $299. Bring your own yoga mat and, if you like, a journal. The exact Armonk address will be provided before the event.
A thriller-famous house, autumnal scenery and lunch made by someone else? That’s a fairly persuasive case for leaving the city.
