Pete Davidson and Colin Jost’s most puzzling investment is finally starting to make sense—or at least as much sense as two Saturday Night Live stars buying a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry ever could.
On Thursday, September 17, the pair will turn the John F. Kennedy into the "Snapple Island Ferry," a free, floating comedy club docked at Pier 17 in Lower Manhattan. Davidson and Jost will host the one-night-only event, featuring a 60-minute show with sets by a lineup of rising comedians. (And yes, the whole thing comes to you courtesy of that titular bodega-favorite beverage brand.)
“Turning the ferry into a floating comedy club with Snapple makes more sense than anything else we considered and it still doesn’t make much sense,” Davidson said in a statement. “Either way, we’re giving people a chance to take a break, have a laugh and do something completely ridiculous with us.”

The show is being produced by The Stand Group, the team behind Union Square’s The Stand Restaurant & Comedy Club and The Stand West at Chelsea Market. The group is also a partner in the ferry alongside Davidson and Jost, meaning this particular floating venue has plenty of comedy-club DNA onboard.
The full lineup has not yet been announced; names will be revealed on Snapple’s social channels in the lead-up to the show. Guests can expect free Snapple beverages and snacks—and best of all, tickets cost absolutely nothing.
A limited number of free pairs will be released daily at 3pm from Thursday, September 3, through Tuesday, September 8, at register.snappleislandferry.com. (Note: the ticket link will go live on 9/3 as such.) Each person can claim one pair, covering admission for themselves and a guest. Given the hosts, price and extremely unusual venue, we would not count on those tickets floating around for long.
Doors will open at 7pm on September 17, with the show beginning at 8:30pm. The ferry will be stationed at Pier 17, at 89 South Street.
Davidson and Jost purchased the John F. Kennedy at auction in 2022, immediately inspiring questions about what, exactly, one does with a 277-foot retired ferry. The boat has since been pitched as a future waterfront entertainment destination. For one night, at least, New Yorkers finally have an answer: you put comedians on it and hope nobody’s material sinks.
