There are a few names synonymous with the New York bakery scene: Dominique Ansel, Milk Bar, Veniero's Pasticceria and, of course, that banana pudding juggernaut, Magnolia Bakery. And though the homegrown chain has 50-plus locations worldwide, peddling its cloud-like pudding and classic, Sex and the City-approved cupcakes since 1996, Magnolia only has physical storefronts in two (Manhattan and Queens) of the five boroughs. But that changes tomorrow.

Yes, on Tuesday, November 3, the famed bakery brand will cap off an already busy year that included its 30th anniversary with its first foray into Staten Island. Magnolia will open the doors on its first Richmond County outpost at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Hylan Commons Shopping Plaza, at the corner of Hylan Boulevard and New Dorp Lane. The new location marks the brand's first franchise location in New York; the Staten Island bakery is owned by borough local Ereny Ghobrial.
“Magnolia Bakery is a brand synonymous with New York, and I’m excited to bring it to a new borough with our Staten Island opening,” Ghobrial said, per SILive.com. “So many members of our community already know and love Magnolia Bakery, and we’re excited to bring it a little closer to home.”

Obviously, that creamy, dreamy banana pudding will be on offer at the new bakery branch, layered with vanilla wafers, whipped cream and real bananas. Also on offer will be Magnolia's cupcakes (popular flavors include red velvet and traditional vanilla, each frosted with the brand's signature buttercream swirl) and classic American desserts like layer cakes, lemon bars, fruit pies, specialty cheesecakes, chocolate-chunk cookies and icebox bars, among others.
Magnolia Bakery began franchising in 2025, with its first franchise location set in Salt Lake City, Utah. And the Staten Island outpost is reportedly just the latest in a pretty extensive expansion plan, which includes at least 15 additional states joining the bakery fam in the years to come, as reports SILive.com.
“Franchising with passionate local operators is so important to us,” Magnolia Bakery CEO Nathan Louer said. “We’re excited to partner with Ereny to bring the magic of Magnolia Bakery to Staten Island and be a part of this wonderful community.”
