Your Saturday just got a whole lot breezier, literally. As part of NYC’s epic Summer Streets celebration, Citi Bike is giving away free day passes every Saturday in August. That’s right: no swipe, no stress, just two wheels and the wind in your hair.

Starting Aug. 2 and running through Aug. 23, the city’s iconic blue bikes are yours to ride for the low price of zilch. Just open the Citi Bike app, tap “Day Pass” and enter promo code LYFTSUMMER25 to unlock 24 hours of unlimited 30-minute rides on classic bikes. Normally $25, it’s a solid steal—but you’ll want to grab your pass early, as supplies are limited and the streets will be buzzing.

This giveaway isn’t just a random act of generosity: It’s part of NYC DOT’s Summer Streets, a five-borough initiative transforming over 400 blocks into a car-free playground of performances, pop-ups, art and outdoor fun. Expect Park Avenue yoga flows, live samba in Harlem, rollerblading clinics in Inwood and yes, enough samples of skyr and sparkling water to stock your fridge.

Riders can start rolling as early as 7 am, when major arteries like Broadway, Lafayette and Eastern Parkway go pedestrian-only. Whether you're brunch-bound in Brooklyn or gallery-hopping in the Bronx, hopping on a Citi Bike is one of the best ways to explore the festivities and beat the MTA heat.

Of course, some fine print: Classic bikes are covered by the pass, but if you grab an e-bike, standard upgrade fees apply. And make sure you dock your ride properly each time—nothing kills a free ride vibe like a surprise charge.

So this August, skip the subway. Download the app, use the code and let Summer Streets roll. Just don’t forget your helmet.
