Things are about to get a little "upside down" in the Flatiron District. This Saturday, October 25, Chips Ahoy! is teaming up with Stranger Things for a one-day pop-up that’s equal parts nostalgic arcade and Hawkins horror. Fans can head to Flatiron North Plaza to try their luck at the Chips Ahoy! Cookie x Stranger Things Claw Machine, where the prizes are as sweet as the cookies that inspired it.
This isn’t your average boardwalk crane game. Designed with glowing red-and-blue lights and creeping vines straight out of the Upside Down, the eerie claw machine will dispense co-branded prizes—think walkie-talkies, retro jean jackets and Hawkins-worthy backpacks—while supplies last. And in true Stranger Things fashion, there’s a twist: one lucky winner will score the entire machine, delivered right to their door. Those who show up in costume get an extra shot at the prize.
“Chips Ahoy! cookies have always been about creating fun, shareable moments,” said Mili Laddha, senior marketing director for the brand, in an official statement. “With our partnership with Stranger Things, we wanted to go beyond our limited-edition cookies and create an experience that lets fans interact with us in a meaningful way.”
The collab marks Chips Ahoy!’s celebration of the Netflix hit ahead of its fifth and final season, which begins streaming this fall in three binge-ready volumes. To sweeten the deal, the brand has also launched a limited-edition Upside Down cookie, featuring a chocolatey base, fudge chips and a red strawberry-flavored filling, all wrapped in glow-in-the-dark packaging.
The claw machine will materialize for one afternoon only, from 12 to 4pm on Saturday at Flatiron North Plaza—right in the shadow of the Flatiron Building—so expect lines of Hawkins diehards and curious cookie fans alike.
It’s a perfectly spooky way to kick off Halloween weekend, snap a few photos for the ‘gram and maybe, just maybe, snag a prize before Stranger Things disappears for good.
