Underoath's brand of mainstream (Christian) hardcore is generically overproduced but impressively savage. Though lyrically far too convinced of the importance of being earnest, New Jersey's screamo poster boys, Thursday, have mastered the art of tricky time signatures and cathartic instrumental bloodletting.
