For years now, Steve Nelson has been a vibraphonist's vibraphonist, one of the elite practitioners of his instrument. We hear him far too seldom as a leader, which is why we're jumping at the chance to attend this birthday gig at Smalls, featuring pianist Rick Germanson, bassist Dezron Douglas and drummer Neal Smith.
