At the top of the bill, happening young São Paulo sextet Garotas Suecas could have backed Caetano or Gilberto in their prime, and the band’s psychedelic sound offers more than a nod to Sly Stone. Then there’s the Reverend Vince Anderson—a self-styled “dirty gospel” musician with a gravelly voice and a penchant for lightning-fast organ playing—and arty indie-soul outfit Ava Luna, which matches prismatic harmonies with big, earthy beats.
