Charles McPherson Quintet

You'd have to look hard this week to find a more enjoyable, no-nonsense bop gig than this one, at which veteran altoist Charles McPherson (who rose to prominence as a Mingus sideman in the early-to-mid-’60s) shows off his marvelously fluid sound alongside trumpeter Brian Lynch, pianist Jeb Patton, bassist Ray Drummond and drummer Billy Drummond.
