116th Street Mexican Independence Festival

116th St between Lexington and Second Aves. Subway: 6 to 116th St. It's been 200 years since Mexico freed itself from Spanish rule. So head to 116th Street to celebrate the anniversary with more than 100,000 patriotic revelers. Nosh on tacos and elote (cheese-covered corn on the cob) and catch upwards of 40 performers on two stages, including traditional Mexican folk group Mariachi Cuscatlán.
