Jean Renoir could achieve more in 30 or 40 minutes than most filmmakers can manage in a couple of hours; the first of these two titles, A Day in the Country (1946), is his pastoral masterpiece. The second, My Hustler (1965), is Andy Warhol's feature about a group of men and women on Fire Island vying for a gigolo's attentions.
