Kimmo Pohjonen and Helsinki Nelson

Accordion Wrestling is a dance-theater production created by Pohjonen, an experimental accordion composer, and Nelson. In it, Pohjonen and ten wrestlers explore the tradition of Finnish wrestling in which accordion performances accompanied tournaments. For this U.S. premiere as part of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, choreographer Ari Numminen creates a fusion of sports, dance, music and art.
