Darius Jones, most often heard as a saxophonist in a modern-jazz context, makes a radical departure with this vocal quartet. The group will perform Jones's 15-part a cappella suite, The Oversoul Manual: a mystic piece meant to reflect a “sacred alien birthing ritual." (It succeeds.) Soon to be released on the AUM Fidelity label—and soon to have its premiere at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall—this gig is a chance to hear the work in one of the city's most intimate rooms.
