Three local novelists read from and discuss the role of family and the idea of home in their new work: Bridgett Davis’s Into the Go-Slow, which addresses the legacy of the Black Power Movement and the troubled bond between African-Americans and Africans; Tiphanie Yanique’s Land of Love and Drowning, a spectacular portrait of life in the Virgin Islands; and Akhil Sharma’s Family Life, about a tragic accident after two brothers leave India for Queens.
