Fleeing from Union troops at the end of the Civil War, Confederate president Jefferson Davis accidentally grabbed his wife's overcoat instead of his own. This show focuses on how the Northern press ran wild with the story, publishing sensational images of Davis sporting a hoopskirt with his own boots peeking out from underneath.
