José Parlá, "Segmented Realities"

Hosting public art projects on its outdoor plaza has become something of a habit for MePa’s Standard Hotel, and its latest guest is a group of painted sculptures by José Parlá, a native of Miami FL born to parents who fled Cuba. Echoes of old Havana and other Caribbean cities reverberate through these pieces, which resemble ruined, brightly grafittied walls.
