Need a holiday? You’re in luck. Qantas has officially launched its biggest domestic sale of the year, with more than two million discounted economy and business seats up for grabs across 101 routes and 60 destinations. And for Melburnians, there are plenty of tempting reasons to start planning a getaway, with fares starting at just $99 one-way.
The Flying Kangaroo’s massive Aussie sale kicked off this morning (August 18) and runs until Tuesday, August 25 at 11.59pm AEST, unless sold out prior. Not ready to jet quite yet? You can book travel all the way through to August 2027, with sale fares available across peak periods including Christmas and New Year, summer and winter school holidays, Easter and Anzac Day. Time to start plotting.
So, where can you fly from Melbourne for $99? The cheapest fares include Melbourne to Adelaide, Launceston and Western Sydney, all from $99 one-way. The latter is particularly handy if you fancy being among the first passengers to fly between Melbourne and the new Western Sydney airport, with the first service set to commence on March 28, 2027, subject to government and regulatory approval.
There are a heap of other bargains if you can stretch the budget a little further. Flights from Melbourne to the Gold Coast start at $129 and the Sunshine Coast from $169. You can also fly from Melbourne to Kangaroo Island from $189, although this fare requires a stopover or transit.
The sale isn't just about economy, either. Business class fares from Melbourne start at $299 one-way, including Melbourne to Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Sydney and Western Sydney International. If you're feeling particularly fancy, Melbourne to Coffs Harbour is on sale from $349 in business class.
And if you're keen to explore beyond the big cities, there are regional routes in the sale too, with thousands of fares available across Australia. Qantas says all sale fares include checked baggage, plus complimentary food and beverages – so you won't have to fork out extra for the basics.
Just keep in mind that sale fares are subject to availability, selected travel dates and days apply, and not every flight will have the discounted fare available.
