Time Out says

Back in 1934, local farmers began selling produce at the corner of 3rd and Fairfax, a corner that has come to be known as the Original Farmers Market and a prime Grove-adjacent dining hall. A handful of stalls still sell fresh produce and other groceries, but these days they're easily outnumbered by restaurant stands offering a culinary trip around the world. Newcomers like biangbiangmian specialist Noodle Art, Polish grab-and-go Stara Pierogi & Sausage and full-service Mediterranean spot Savta have kept this L.A. classic thrumming with novelty, but you also can't beat the American comfort food served at the historic Du-Par’s, which has served pancakes since 1938 and the cheap, cash-only noodle dishes at Singapore’s Banana Leaf. Make sure to stop by Magee's for some of the best roasted nuts in town.

What’s on

Mardi Gras at the Original Farmers Market

It’s Mardi Gras weekend, but you’re having a seriously hard time deciding whether to toss some beads or to play toss with Fido. Do both at the Original Farmers Market with its annual Mardi Gras celebration. The event includes the Mutti Gras Pet Parade and Costume Contest Saturday at noon. Pups parade along the Market Plaza in costume and are judged by the crowd. A King and Queen are then crowned in categories of small, medium and large dogs, and are awarded prizes from the Dog Bakery. The Mardi Gras celebration continues throughout the weekend with live Zydeco and New Orleans bands, while the Nervis Bros. will perform on Fat Tuesday itself. It’s the perfect accompaniment to seafood and gumbo, jumbalaya, blackened chicken, beignets, po’boys and more traditional NOLA food.
