The city of Santa Monica turns its annual address on the state of the city into a community event. Centered around Main Street, outside the newly reopened Ocean Park Branch Library—where Santa Monica Poet Laureate Jay Baldwin will be on hand for a reading before Mayor Caroline Torosis speaks—the free event doubles as a showcase of things to look forward to in the coastal city, including previews of the brand-new Ocean Way Festival and a European-style holiday market coming to the Pier in November. You’ll also find live music, a meet-and-greet with the NFL’s Taylor Bisciotti and vouchers to shop at Main Street businesses. The stretch is also home to the new Main Street Entertainment Zone, where you stroll around with drinks from Ashland Hill, Circle Bar, Jameson's Pub, the Victorian and more.
