Disappointed by the Los Angeles Jazz Festival’s abrupt cancellation? Well you can still see some top-notch jazz this month, thanks to Leimert’s Park own fest, held in South L.A. each year on the last Sunday of August. The family-friendly, community-centric festival, held on the outdoor rooftop parking deck of Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, is free (though donations are encouraged). The generations-spanning lineup includes José James (paying tribute to John Coltrane), pianist Bobby West, L.A. collective West Coast Get Down, Afro-Cuban percussionist Melena and Inglewood native Kenneth Brown II.
