Looking for an alternative to London’s big, fancy (and often expensive) art fairs? Minor Attractions, which bills itself as ‘London’s premier transgressive art fair’, is back for its fourth edition with what it says will be its biggest, boldest incarnation to date.
This year, it will bring together a network of over 75 galleries all displaying art in the luxury hotel The Newman. As well as art, the hotel’s intimate domestic spaces will host live events, including a talk by BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! with film director, writer and comedian Simon Amstell, a Mahjong Palace takeover and a Mutt Art Review issue launch, alongside the fair’s Film Programme and Radio Residency Programme, spotlighting the most exciting London and international film and music. Meanwhile, the exhibitor line-up includes Tatjana Pieters (Belgium), LAILA (Australia), Cedric Bardawil (UK) and St. Chads (UK) with a highly curated influx of newcomers, including Goswell Road (France), Upstream Gallery (Netherlands) and TICK TACK (Belgium).
The programming even extends beyond the hotel walls, linking up with spaces like STÜCK, which will host a night of live performance and experimental music, The Nickel cinema, which will host curated screenings by independent film collective Deeper Into Movies, as well as presenting a showcase of radical moving image art from Film London’s FLAMIN Fellowship Programme. Electrowerkz and The Horse Hospital will host the fair’s opening and closing parties.
