Macbeth

Verdi's opera based on Shakespeare's play tells of the treacherous and scheming couple at its centre. With baritone Simon Keenlyside making his Royal Opera debut in the title role, and Liudmyla Monastyrska (Lady Macbeth), Dimitri Pittas (Macduff), Raymond Aceto (Banquo) and Steven Ebel (Malcolm). Antonio Pappano conducts this revival; directed by Phyllida Lloyd. (Sung in Italian; running time is two hours and 50 minutes.)
