Heal’s may be the grand old dame of interiors stores, but its happy combination of excellent sourcing, helpful staff and a layout that’s constantly being reinvented means it manages to stay relevant. Heal’s commitment to sourcing new designers is impressive, while established names are also well represented across furniture, lighting, soft furnishings and accessories.
The shop had a big refurbishment in 2023, doubling its Tottenham Court Road frontage and reorganising the showroom into a modern, open-plan space. It still keeps lots of its classic architecture, including decorative features and original staircases. The ground floor and lower-ground (basement) now house the bulk of the retail offering, from furniture and upholstery to lighting, cushions and smaller home accessories. There's a great selection of vintage Danish furniture and a terrific lighting department. And, if you're looking for a good gift you'll be sure to find one here.
