Time Out says

Here’s a fact for you: it’s impossible for a shopping district that’s born out of what was once a Victorian coal depot to be anything other than ultra cool and trendy. Worlds away from your standard Westfield (much as we love the multiplex), the list of stores, bars and restaurants in Coal Drops Yard is pretty alternative. Of the shops, some, you may know – Aesop, Cos, Paul Smith – but most will be completely new (and also your new obsession), such as LA label Twiin and menswear boutique Universal Works. On the food and drink front you’ll find a new outpost for the trusty tapas restaurant Barrafina nestled among edgy new eateries and concept bars. Check out Casa Pastor for tacos and Coal Office for delicious mezze fare.

What’s on

Club Curling

Curling has been growing in popularity in recent years, nudged on by its compelling showings at various Winter Olympics, and this pop-up outdoor arena in King’s Cross’s lovely shopping district Coal Drops Yard is now a mainstay of the area’s winter entertainment offering. It boasts six synthetic curling lanes, on which you can curl your heart out for 45 minutes before rewarding yourself with a tasty cocktail at the retro Italian après bar the Club Curling Lounge.

Classic Car Boot Sale

Unlike your usual boot sale, there’s no tat being flogged out of the back of a Ford Fiesta at this oh-so-classy car boot. Instead, more than 75 rare classic vehicles will be parking up in Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard, out of which vendors will be selling vintage fashion, homewares and collectables. Mobile eateries will be dotted between the old-school cars and campervans, while an old Routemaster bus bar will be serving up craft bevvies, with DJs impressing purists and pop lovers with vintage vinyl. Stay tuned for more details in due course!
