What’s on

Santa in the City

What’s red, white and sweaty all over? An entrant to London’s annual Santa in the City, of course. This year marks the 10th anniversary of this festive frolic, which sees willing participants run a 4km course through the city centre and for the first time, you can also walk the route too if you don’t feel like breaking too much of a sweat. The course begins in Paternoster Square and wends past St Paul’s Cathedral, across Millennium Bridge, past Tower Bridge, The Shard of London, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre over to the south side of the Thames, meaning you’ll get a dazzling view of London at night in the process. There’s no excuse not to dress up because every place includes a five-piece santa suit, which includes a jacket, a pair of adjustable trousers, hat, beard and belt. As ever, the event will be raising money for charity. This year, Sarcoma UK is the partnered charity which funds research for sarcoma cancer.

SXSW London

Austin’s music, film and media festival SXSW is renowned across the world for being the place to discover the next big thing. In previous years, superstars like Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan have all given early performances at the Texas event, while the likes of Steven Spielberg, Barack Obama and Malala Yousafzai have appeared at the conference arm of the festival. And now, following the festival’s expansion into Sydney, the week-long, multi-venue event is coming to London for the first time.  Now, SXSW London is back again for the second year running, and will once again take over various venues around Shoreditch in June. If last year is anything to go by expect the line-up to be absolutely massive, with talks and panels delving into the most pressing issues across business and tech, keynotes delivered by big names, film screenings, including a whole bunch of international premieres, as well as a music festival. Watch this space as more details are annouced.
