Mere days after Lindt announced the launch of a new east London chocolate shop, yet another premier chocolate emporium has been announced for the capital. This time it’s from Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini, who has confirmed plans for a flagship store in the West End.
Opening on March 27, the Regent Street location joins the Belgian sweetie maestro’s recently opened west London location in Notting Hill, plus a site on Marylebone High Street and counters in Selfridges and Harrods.
The central London location, however, will offer something different. Mere minutes from Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus tube stops, expect exclusive flavours – like strawberries and cream– and a dedicated hot choccy counter serving the chocolatier’s signature ‘grands crus’ drinks both hot and cold. There will also be lemon tea and pistachio macarons, which will circle the room on an in-store carousel. Decadent or what, eh?
To mark the occasion, the Brussels-based chocolatier is hosting a soft launch on March 25-26, offering 500 ‘Pierre Marcolini Loves London’ kits for £15. The chocolate experts say the price is well below the value of the loot, which includes a hot or cold cup of ‘grand cru nectar’ hot chocolate, one mini-Malline gift box of nine vanilla chocolates and one vanilla ‘grand cru kumo’ pastry with a Union Jack Flag design made exclusively for Regent Street.
If your sweet tooth is strong enough to get you there in time for the soft launch, you’ll also get a first look at limited-edition pastry, chocolate and hot chocolate flavours which have never been sampled before.
Marcolini is already an international brand, with flagship stores in Brussels, New York, Kuwait and Tokyo. Having celebrated its 30th birthday last year, the chocolatier has set its sights on a big UK expansion, meaning getting that sweet sweet hit of the good stuff might be about to get that much easier.
Following the soft launch, Pierre Marcolini Regent Street will officially open on March 27.
Pierre Marcolini 56 Regent Street, W1B 4DY.
