So long trendy cocktail bars, welcome back good old-fashioned family-run pubs. There’s a brand new gastropub arriving in west London this spring, and it’ll be headed up by the Spiteris, the same dynasty behind some of the tastiest spots in London.
The Latimer will open on Latimer Road in Notting Hill next month – which should be perfect timing for guests looking to enjoy a draft beer in the sun on their year-round street terrace.
Regularly racking up five-star reviews, the Spiteris have a history of working with brilliant restaurants. Jon Spiteri is an original partner at The French House, St John and Sessions Art Club while his ex-wife Melanie Arnold is a co-founder at Rochelle Canteen. Both restaurateurs have been widely praised for their decades-long tastemaking influence on London’s culinary scene.
Their daughter Molly is a business development lead at Koya while their sons Lorcan and Fin are the minds behind Caravel, a boat restaurant which has long since sailed into Time Out’s hearts.
At the Latimer, the whole family will have a voice in the pub’s creation but Lorcan will be taking the helm on food and Fin will be steering drinks and front of house.
Hosting around 50 guests at a time, the pub will be decked with upholstered furniture which captures the essence of traditional pubs. It will serve draft beers, wine from merchants Uncharted on tap and alcohol-free options alongside a range of hearty meals.
The menu will feature dishes like poached trout mayonnaise for starters, oxtail with mash and horseradish or brown crab tagliolini with bisque and lemon for main, and almond cake with custard or poached rhubarb and a white chocolate ganache for dessert. For those who prefer picky bits, the bar will offer snacks like masala monkfish with tartare sauce and tempura oyster mushrooms with pickles. On Sundays, rather than a typical roast, it’ll serve a sharing platter of meats and seasonal veg.
The Latimer will open its doors to guests on April 21 2026. Operating Monday through Sunday, the pub will be serving pints from 12pm to 11pm.
