Locals and commuters in King’s Cross will no doubt have noticed that a gigantic new gold-bricked building has gone up opposite King’s Cross Square. Called Belgrove House, the 25,000-square-metre project contains laboratories, offices and science facilities.
But did you know that Belgrove House also features a new tube station entrance? Well, it does – and it has been unveiled by TfL this week. More than just a new entry/exit for King’s Cross St Pancras, it marks the first time that the London Underground station has had step-free access from the south side of Euston Road.
The new station entrance replaces two older entrances on the same side of the road, which closed in 2024 and will remain shut. The newly opened space is enclosed, naturally lit and, crucially, has a lift. Here are a few sneak peeks at the new entrance.
KCSP’s new entrance was fully funded by Precis Advisory, which is the developer of Belgrove House. The project brings TfL’s total of step-free tube stations up to 95, which is over a third of the network. Northolt on the Central line also went step-free earlier in the month.
