Thought we were firmly past the Guinness craze? Think again. Because in what we’re calling the biggest crossover between straight male DJs and middle-aged mums since, well... ever, one bar in north London has decided to launch a Guinness afternoon tea.
Homeboy on Essex Road is launching the Guinness-themed tea from October this year. It makes sense, given that Homeboy is an Irish cocktail bar.
For this afternoon treat Homeboy going both sweet and savoury. Guests will be able to munch on Irish smoked salmon on Guinness soda bread, a beef and Guinness stew and an Irish beef slider with Guinness gravy. For sweet, the menu includes Guinness cake and a black velvet blancmange.
Bookings include a welcome drink, and guests can choose from a pint of the black stuff, frozen Irish coffee with Guinness infusion, or a pot of Barry’s tea. There’s also an option for a drinks pairing, which allows diners to order a black velvet (Guinness and champagne) or a baby Guinness.
Guinness afternoon tea at Homeboy begins on October 10 and can be booked online. The normal afternoon tea is £45 and with the drinks pairing it’s £65. With Homeboy’s expertly made cocktails and convivial Irish pub atmosphere, we expect this stout-y afternoon tea could be a real winner.
