February in London can feel like a bit of a slog after the buzz of Christmas, but St Paul’s Cathedral has just given us a great reason to look forward to the typically bleak month. Light and sound artists Luxmuralis are heading back to the City landmark with Origins, a brand new immersive installation running for nine nights from 19 to 27 February 2027, and tickets are on sale now.
Luxmuralis is the creative partnership of sculptor Peter Walker and composer David Harper. They’re the duo behind Luminous, which drew thousands of visitors to the cathedral in February 2025, and their past work also includes the Poppy Fields installation at the Tower of London.
‘Origins’ has been made especially for St Paul’s, and this time the artists have gone digging through the cathedral’s own collections for inspiration. You can expect ancient maps, historic texts, secret libraries and musical scores, all brought to life with projection and sound across Christopher Wren’s architecture as you make your way through a series of immersive spaces.
The big new addition this time is the Whispering Gallery. For the first time, you can pay a bit extra to head up to the famous gallery that lives 99 feet above the cathedral floor, and take in the show from above. Just be ready for a climb, as it’s 257 steps up.
Peter Walker said St Paul’s ‘provides a spectacular setting for this work’, while Sandra Lynes Timbrell, the cathedral’s director of visitor engagement, said she hoped ‘Origins’ would ‘inspire a sense of wonder and curiosity’, whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth.
How to get tickets for Origins at St Paul’s Cathedral
Tickets are available now from the St Paul’s Cathedral website here. Adult tickets cost £20 or £30 with Whispering Gallery access, and child tickets are £11.50, or £21.50 with the gallery. Friends of St Paul’s get 10 percent off.
Ticket sales help fund the cathedral’s music programme and keep its specialist craft skills alive, so you can feel good about your evening out too.
