Since his untimely passing last year, events celebrating the life and work of filmmaker and artist David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive) have been springing up everywhere, from film screenings and rock gigs to art shows and pop-up diners. But none have been more elaborate and thrilling than last September’s A Gathering of the Angels, a weekend event at the Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel offering fans the chance to meet cast members from Lynch’s movies and TV shows alongside interactive events, live cabaret, film screenings and cosplay.
Now, in the words of the Giant in Twin Peaks, it is happening again: on September 26-27, Lynch fans will gather to celebrate a fallen icon, enjoying bottomless coffee and donuts, and appearances from – among others – actor Harry Goaz, who found global fame as the loveable, teary-eyed Deputy Andy in Twin Peaks; Ian Buchanan, who played his devious love rival Dick Tremayne; George Griffith, who played the sneering villain Ray Monroe in Twin Peaks: The Return; and that show’s executive producer and Lynch’s longtime right-hand woman, Sabrina Sutherland.
There’ll also be an online panel with a number of Lynch’s closest collaborators, including regular editor Duwayne Dunham and legendary special effects man Gary D’Amico, as well as live cabaret performances from London’s legendary Double R Club, a DJ set from iconic mixmaster and Lynch fan DJ Yoda, a mysterious and theatrical Blue Velvet Immersive Experience and screenings of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me on the Genesis’ massive main screen.
