Anyone with enough cash to splash on a night in The Ned or a cocktail at Claridge’s will know that London hotels can be seriously swish. And now even more lavish, chandelier-bedecked digs are set to open in the city.
When Cambridge House, Auberge Collection swings its doors wide open on February 1 2027, it’ll see the historic Georgian mansion at 94 Piccadilly – which counts Queen Victoria’s uncle, the Duke of Cambridge, and former prime minister Lord Palmerston among its previous residents – transformed into a posh hotel.
Situated between Green Park and Shepherd Market, the centuries-old landmark will have 102 rooms, a signature bar, a huge three-floor spa (think hydrotherapy facilities, a heated pool and even a fire pit) and private residences. It’ll even have its own members’ club, which is due to open post-launch later in 2027.
And what would a luxury hotel be without a mega-opulent eatery at its centre? Well, meet Major’s, an American-chophouse-slash-London-grill concept cooked up by the group behind Carbone, Torrisi and ZZ’s Club. Set within Cambridge House’s restored Georgian ballroom and jasmine-fringed courtyard, we can expect a formal caviar service from its kitchen, as well as ‘abundant seafood towers’, according to the proprietors. As for drinks, Major’s will serve up no fewer than 10 takes on the martini, and has teased a selection of bougie bottles of vino from ‘one of London’s most formidable cellars’, although details are still under wraps.
The hotel has just opened reservations for stays in its plush accom. We should warn you though, a night under its sheets will set you back a pretty penny. According to its website, the cheapest room is the ‘House Queen’, which sleeps one and will cost a stonking £810 for the night, while the Garden Terrace Two Bedroom Suite will set you back £4,671.
