Borough Market is home to several of London’s most iconic food spots. No fewer than three of its eateries ranked among Time Out’s best London restaurants this year, including Camille, which took the top spot.
It’ll come as no surprise, then, that the legendary market is also home to one of the Big Smoke’s best roasts. Aptly named restaurant Roast has been operating out of The Floral Hall on Stoney Street since 2005 and its beef wellington and Yorkshire puds have garnered a devout following.
Now, the purveyor of tradish British grub is expanding beyond its roots. Roast has announced that it will be opening a second site in east London in October.
Debuting within Virgin Hotels’ Shoreditch outpost on Curtain Road, the new 135-cover resto will be home to a main dining room and bar, an orangery and a chef’s table. Expect the same all-day dining fare as the OG site, from breakfast and brunch to lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and, of course, a proper Sunday roast.
Borough Market specials available at the flagship won’t be on the east London menu, but the team behind Roast has hinted at new dishes exclusive to the Shoreditch site. The details of those plates are still under wraps.
