LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL: Archie Shepp Attica Blues Orchestra

Saxophonist, playwright and poet Shepp is best known for his work on John Coltrane's avant-garde call-to-arms 'Ascension', and some highly politicised LPs for Impulse in the late '60s and early '70s, mixing spoken word, blues, funk, swing and free jazz. Expect to hear his take on African-American standards, plus the odd radical poem.
