Time Out says

With a total capacity of 1400, this massive taproom and community events space off Blackhorse Lane is the largest beer hall in London. It hosts a huge variety of events, from weekly sports screenings and pub quizzes to beer festivals and wine tastings, live comedy, vintage fairs and craft workshops. Food-wise, it offers a large menu of pub classics including sourdough pizzas, burgers and a kid’s menu, with roasts on Sundays, while drinks come in the form of seven house brews, a variety of guest beers and classic cocktails. There’s always plenty of seasonal fun on offer here, including a summertime beach pop-up and curling lanes in the winter, and it’s got a regular programme of sprog-friendly events, including soft play, bouncy castle sessions and singalong concerts. Basically, if you’re bored in Walthamstow, go here!

What’s on

St Patrick’s Day at Big Penny Social

Big Penny Social knows good craic – you can tell from the fact its annual St Patrick’s Day party always sells out. This year, they're taking things a step further by throwing not one but two big bashes.  First up is a family knees up in the afternoon slot (2-4pm) with an all-ages ceilidh, and performances from Solas Trio and Maguire O’Shea Dance Academy. Then, the tots will be banished for an evening shindig with dancing and boozing aplenty til 1am. Live band Solas Trio will be back to serve up Irish tunes and party hits, and there'll be more Irish dancing from the Maguire O’Shea Dance Academy to inspire you to try out some new moves. There’ll be plenty of stout and baby Guinness shots to get you in the party mood, plus Taytos and coddle (a kind of Irish stew, to the uninitiated) to tuck into should you get hungry.
