Time Out says

When Michael Lalwani opened Manhattan Tailors on Nathan Road in 1996, Tsim Sha Tsui already had no shortage of tailors. What set the house apart then — and still does today — is the refusal to cut corners. Every suit leaves the workshop hand-cut and hand-sewn, built on a full floating canvas that moulds to the wearer over years of use rather than degrading like the fused interlinings found in most off-the-rack and made-to-measure garments.

The fabric room is the first stop for every new client. Dormeuil, Scabal, Loro Piana, Holland & Sherry, Vitale Barberis Canonico and Bower Roebuck sit alongside seasonal weights chosen for Hong Kong's climate — tropical wools that breathe in August, heavier flannels for the rare cold spell. Shirts, tuxedos, waistcoats, blazers, overcoats and women's tailoring are all produced in-house by a team of 200+ artisans.

The house also travels. Manhattan Tailors trunk shows reach clients in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Japan and Austria — taking measurements on location and shipping completed garments directly. For visitors to Hong Kong with a tight schedule, 24-hour rush orders are available.

After nearly three decades at 186 Nathan Road, the address has become a reliable answer to the question every well-dressed traveller eventually asks: where do you actually go for a bespoke suit in Hong Kong? For many, Manhattan Tailors is that answer.
