Octopus and HeyMax are giving away free air miles every time you tap your Octopus card

Getting on a packed MTR train in the morning is not exactly something to look forward to, but what if those cramped daily commutes could actually pay for your next holiday? Octopus has teamed up with rewards platform HeyMax to launch Ride to Fly, an eStamp initiative that will turn your public transport fares into air miles.

Running from now until November 13, the Ride to Fly promotion lets travellers gather eStamps every time they use their Octopus card on public transport. Simply link your card to the Octopus app’s ‘Dood Rewards’, register for the campaign, and tap away as normal.

Every fare payment costing $10 or more across the city’s major transport networks earns you one eStamp, covering trips on the MTR, KMB, Citybus, Long Win Bus, New Lantao Bus, green and red minibuses, and franchised ferries run by Sun Ferry and Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry.

For every 10 eStamps collected, commuters will receive a redemption code for 100 Max Miles and one entry into a lucky draw. Each account can collect up to three redemption codes, maxing out at 300 Max Miles and three draw tickets. While 300 miles might not get you very far on its own, those miles can be transferred across more than 20 airline and hotel loyalty programmes without an expiration date.

As for the lucky draw, two separate rounds will be held on October 27 and November 23. For each round, one lucky winner will receive the grand prize of 370,000 Max Miles, which is enough to secure two business class round-trip tickets to Europe. Six winners will be selected for the second prize of 52,000 Max Miles, while the third prize of 28,000 Max Miles will go to 11 winners per round. Winners will be announced on the official Octopus website and social channels on November 3 and November 30.
