North Point isn’t the neighbourhood most travellers bookmark when planning a Hong Kong stay – and that’s precisely why Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour feels like such a smart choice. This eastern stretch of Hong Kong Island still hums with everyday local life, from wet markets and tram-lined streets to old-school dessert shops that haven’t changed in decades. It’s well connected by the Island Line, yet far enough from Central and Causeway Bay that you’re not constantly dodging crowds. Staying here feels less like ticking off landmarks and more like slipping into the city’s daily rhythm.

Hyatt Centric leans hard into that idea of neighbourhood discovery. At check-in, guests receive a thoughtfully curated booklet of North Point vouchers, encouraging you to wander and redeem complimentary local snacks at nearby family-run businesses. It’s a small but meaningful gesture that nudges you off the hotel grounds and into the community, while putting money back into local pockets.

Why stay at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong?

This is a big hotel, and it announces itself as such. Two towers are connected internally, and not every lift serves every floor – something that can feel mildly disorienting if you’re arriving late at night or jet-lagged. Thankfully, the hotel counters this with a charmingly illustrated map handed out at check-in, which quickly becomes essential reading.

Hyatt Centric really comes into its own is during the day. Natural light floods the public areas, and Victoria Harbour views are front and centre throughout the property, from the rooms to the rooftop restaurant. The overall vibe is youthful and contemporary – relaxed enough for leisure travellers, polished enough for business stays.

It’s also notably pet-friendly. Dedicated pet lifts, clear policies and direct access to a pet-friendly mall filled with grooming salons and boutique shops make this one of the more thoughtful staycation options if you’re travelling with a furry companion.

What are the rooms like at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong?

Rooms here are a pleasant surprise – especially for the price point. They’re generously sized by Hong Kong standards, cleverly laid out and designed to maximise both comfort and views. Even entry-level categories feel spacious rather than squeezed.

I stayed in a King Bed Harbour View Deluxe, a 31-square-metre room that fully earns its name. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted views of Victoria Harbour, while the king-sized bed is positioned for maximum scenery appreciation. The bathroom layout is particularly well considered, with a connecting rain shower and bathtub that also offer a view of harbour while you shower and soak.

Design-wise, the rooms lean modern and unfussy, with subtle local references rather than heavy-handed theming. Practical touches – electric blinds, strong soundproofing and plenty of charging points – make the stay easy, while the amenities hit all the right notes: Nespresso machine, soundbar system, plush bathrobes and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. I personally found the bed a little too firm for my liking, but as a whole, I noticed that beds in Hong Kong do tend to be on the harder side compared to what I'm used to.

What are the restaurants like at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong?

The headline act is Cruise, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar. Set high above the harbour, it’s an expansive indoor-outdoor space with sweeping views that stretch from sunrise to well past sunset. The menu focuses on modern Asian dishes designed for sharing, and while the food holds its own, the real draw here is the atmosphere – particularly at golden hour, when the skyline lights up and the terrace fills with a mix of hotel guests and locals.

While breakfast used to be at Farmhouse, the hotel was going through a transition process during my stay, with breakfast being offered at One Duck Lane, the hotel's new Chinese restaurant, which officially opens on December 18.

What’s the service like at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong?

The front desk team sets the tone from the start: warm, chatty and genuinely helpful without veering into script-heavy hospitality. Check-in feels relaxed rather than transactional, and staff are happy to offer neighbourhood tips beyond the usual tourist suggestions.

The concierge desk, however, can feel stretched during peak afternoon hours. During my stay, my backpack was briefly misplaced amid the bustle of luggage handling. The issue was resolved, though a bit more staffing during busy periods would go a long way.

What are the facilities like at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong?

The 25-metre outdoor rooftop infinity pool is one of the hotel’s standout features. Perched on the 23rd floor, it’s a genuinely impressive place to swim or lounge, with uninterrupted harbour views that make you forget you’re in one of the world’s densest cities. Sun loungers line the deck, and poolside service keeps things leisurely.

The fitness centre is equally well equipped, featuring modern machines alongside an ICAROS flying system – a VR-enhanced workout that’s equal parts novelty and legitimate core workout. Even if you’re not usually a gym person on holiday, it’s worth a try.

What’s the area like around Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong?

North Point rewards curiosity. Just outside the hotel, Chun Yeung Street offers one of Hong Kong’s most evocative street scenes, with double-decker trams rattling through the centre of a traditional market selling produce, dried goods and snacks. It’s a slice of old Hong Kong that feels increasingly rare.

The hotel’s neighbourhood vouchers lead you to excellent local institutions, including Ah-Yee Rice Noodle Roll for classic cheung fan and curry fish balls, Tak Hing Loong Bean Curd Shop for silky-smooth tofu pudding handmade daily, and Duck Shing Ho Egg Rolls, a long-standing favourite for freshly rolled biscuits that often sell out by midday.

Why you should book a stay at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong

Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong is ideal for travellers who want strong harbour views, generous room sizes and easy transport links, without staying in the thick of tourist-heavy districts. The neighbourhood focus, pet-friendly policies and rooftop facilities give it an edge over more conventional business hotels, while its pricing makes it one of the better-value full-service options on Hong Kong Island. Book a harbour-view room if you can, and give yourself time to explore North Point properly – the hotel practically hands you the keys.
