The Playhouse Company is Durban’s premier entertainment and theatre complex.

Located in the heart of Durban, The Playhouse Company is a vibrant hub for performing arts, offering a rich blend of local and international productions. The complex features three distinct theatre spaces:

• Opera Theatre: seating 1,224 guests

• Drama Theatre: seating 468 guests

• Loft Theatre: an intimate space seating 136 guests

In addition to hosting its own acclaimed productions, The Playhouse is available for hire, making it a versatile venue for both small-scale performances and large productions.

The facility also includes a state-of-the-art recording studio, spacious enough to accommodate a full orchestra.

KZN Philharmonic Orchestra 2026 Summer Symphony Season

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra returns to the Playhouse Company on 5 and 12 March as part of its 2026 Summer Symphony Season. On 5 March, internationally acclaimed conductor Yasuo Shinozaki takes the podium, joined by virtuoso cellist Bryan Cheng for an unforgettable evening of music. To book tickets, click here.
