Chicago’s lakefront will transform into the ultimate endurance playground when the Chicago Triathlon by Supertri takes over the city August 23–24. And the 2025 edition is shaping up to be the biggest in the event’s history—with registration already outpacing last year’s 7,500 participants, organizers expect record-breaking numbers when it comes to athletes, fundraising and community involvement.
The course is pure Chicago magic: Athletes plunge into Lake Michigan, navigate a bike ride through downtown and cap it all off with a run that ends at a finish line in Grant Park. Whether you’re a first-timer testing your grit, a seasoned triathlete chasing a new personal record or a paratriathlete proving nothing is off-limits, this is a weekend where everyone belongs at the start line.

Saturday, August 23 is all about variety. The SuperSprint Race offers a quick-hit challenge perfect for beginners or anyone craving speed without the full Olympic distance grind. Kids Tri Chicago turns young athletes loose in age-appropriate versions of the sport, while the Supertri League brings elite, pro-level racing to the lakefront in short, fast, team-based formats that are every bit as dramatic as they sound.
Sunday, August 24 is when thousands tackle the Sprint and Olympic Distance Races. Crowds line the lakefront as athletes push themselves along one of the country's most scenic urban race routes.
This year also sees the return of the Corporate Challenge, a team-based showdown that last year raised over $55,000 for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The 2025 goal? Double it. It’s competition with a purpose, channeling the city’s corporate energy into funding pediatric cancer and blood disorder research.
“Chicago gives us the perfect stage to showcase what triathlon can become,” Supertri CEO and Co-Founder Michael D’hulst said in a statement. “Our goal is to make this the most exciting and inclusive triathlon the sport has ever seen. The energy and passion of the Chicago community push us to raise the bar, and we’re committed to delivering an unforgettable experience for athletes and fans alike.”
Whether you’re racing, cheering from the sidelines or just soaking in the spectacle, the Chicago Triathlon isn’t just a test of endurance. This is a celebration of community, competition and the city itself. This August, the finish line in Grant Park is where Chicago’s summer energy hits its peak.
