Spirit Airlines will tip its hat to the Windy City this fall, celebrating 25 years at Chicago O’Hare with a deal that feels like a birthday gift for travelers. From now through October 12, you can snag 25-percent off base fares from ORD for one-way travel between October 20 and December 10 with the promo code 25PCT. The catch? The discount excludes certain fare classes (Y, B, and H) and doesn’t stack with other offers.

For Free Spirit members, Spirit is sweetening the deal: book a qualifying round-trip and earn 1,500 bonus points (one-way bookings get 750 bonus points). And if you haven’t joined the loyalty program yet, you can score 500 points just for signing up.

This tie-in with Chicago is more than promotional optics. Spirit first launched service out of O’Hare in 2000. The move underscores the carrier’s long game: embedding itself in Chicago’s air service landscape not just as a discount option, but as a fixture in the city’s travel DNA.

"On behalf of Mayor Brandon Johnson, I congratulate Spirit Airlines on 25 years at O’Hare International Airport," said Commissioner Michael McMurray of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA). "Spirit has been a vital partner since 2000, providing Chicagoans with affordable, reliable options to connect with leisure destinations year-round. We are grateful for their commitment to O’Hare and look forward to many more years of partnership."

The mechanics of the offer are pretty straightforward: travel must be booked between October 6 and October 12 for dates between October 20 and December 10 (excluding Fridays, Sundays and blackout dates between November 20 and December 2). To claim the discount, just enter “25PCT” when booking on spirit.com or the Spirit app.

Sure, Spirit is known for a la carte pricing and optional add-ons, so the 25-percent off is only on the base fare—extras like upgraded seats, baggage or “Premium Economy” won’t be included. But for travelers chasing value and flexibility, this kind of discount delivered straight to Chicago’s largest airport is worth a closer look.
