It's a stroke of genius to open a bar near a place with notorious waits, but to serve burgers across the street from Kumas? Isn't that a little, well, risky? Not if they always come out as well-seasoned as ours, topped with thick slabs of bacon and spread with a chili-garlic aioli that'll almost have you breaking a sweat. And not when they're served with light-as-air, freshly fried chips that beat out Kumas waffle fries any day. Top 40 tunes and the dearth of draft beers bring the comparisons to a halt, but Square has one thing Kumas might never have: open seats.
