The Chicago Arts District encompasses a number of live/work spaces, galleries, lofts, offices, studios and exhibition spaces. Podmajersky Inc. established CAD in 1987 in order to create a destination art community, as well as a place where artists could pursue their entrepreneurial endeavors. The long-running 2nd Fridays Gallery Night is a self-guided walking tour of more than 30 lofts, galleries and retail spaces in the area.
