Everyone’s said it, everyone says it, and chances are, everyone will keep saying it: these are the best patatas bravas in Barcelona. That might sound like a bold claim—especially for such a staple tapa you’ll find on nearly every menu—but one thing’s for sure: they definitely rank among the top.
The potatoes are cut unevenly, fried in olive oil until perfectly golden, and topped with a generous helping of sauce—more like a garlicky allioli than your typical spicy brava sauce. People actually travel across the city just to eat them.
But there’s more to Bar Tomàs than just bravas. You’ll also find anchovies, marinated white anchovies (seitons), chicken croquettes, and of course, cold, refreshing pints of beer. It’s a classic local spot that knows how to do tapas right.
