1. Don Frico

Order the: Mortadella – white-based pizza with cheese, mortadella, stracciatella, grana padano and pistachio crumb
Piping hot New York-style pizza by the slice, cold cocktails, vinyl DJs – just three of many reasons we’re obsessed with Don Frico. The owners are big dogs in Hobart’s bar scene, having spent eight years running Grinner’s dive bar. Their latest joint takes over the Society bar space behind Salamanca, and is part pizza shop, part cocktail bar and part late-night vinyl lounge. Head to the counter for thin, foldable New York-style slices or thick, crispy-edged Detroit deep-dish squares topped with spicy sausage, smashed potatoes and smoky eggplant. Then let the vinyl DJs guide your night all the way through to 2am.
Address: 22 Montpelier Retreat, Battery Point
Price: Pizza slices from $6; whole pizzas from $30
