You can cross the ditch with slashed fares to Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown

It’s pretty wild that flying from Sydney or Melbourne to Perth takes longer than hopping across to New Zealand. So it's no wonder that a record 1.59 million Aussies crossed the ditch in the last financial year alone. If you’re still one of those people who’s been “meaning to visit New Zealand” for years, take this as your sign to book a trip.
Qantas has just launched a week-long New Zealand sale, offering discounted flights from Australia’s major airports to Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown. The sale is live now and ends on October 19 at 11.59pm, with selected travel dates available between November 2026 and September 2027. That means you can even sneak in a trip before the year wraps up!
One-way economy fares to Auckland start at just $289 from the Gold Coast, $359 from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, or $509 from Perth. Here, you can hike dormant volcanoes, ferry across to Waiheke Island (famous for its world-class wineries), jump off New Zealand's tallest building, and eat your way through its 2026 list of Iconic Eats.
Meanwhile, one-way fares to Christchurch and Wellington start from $359, and Queenstown from $379 – so you can finally book that summer hiking adventure, winter ski trip or spring reset.
As with any trusty Qantas flight, 30kg of checked baggage, in-flight entertainment, food and beverages are all included in your ticket – so no sneaky fees at checkout. You can explore dates and destinations here.
